How Often Should You Wash a Nursery Rug?

A practical schedule
Vacuum two to three times a week, spot clean accidents immediately, and run a full wash every two to three months — or right after any significant accident.
Wash settings
Cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent, no bleach and no fabric softener. Softener coats cotton fibers and reduces absorbency.
Drying
Air dry flat or tumble on low. High heat is the main cause of shrinkage and distorted edges.
Making it last
Rotate the rug every few months, use a pad, and resist the urge to wash for minor marks that spot cleaning handles.
