What Does GOTS Certification Mean?
GOTS is the strongest organic textile certification, because it covers processing as well as fiber.

What it covers
Certified organic fiber content (at least 70 percent for 'made with organic', 95 percent for 'organic'), plus restrictions on dyes, processing chemicals and wastewater treatment through the supply chain.
What it does not cover
GOTS is not a safety test on the finished item. It governs inputs and processing rather than measuring residues in your rug.
How to verify
Every certified operation has a certificate with a licence number and a certifying body. Ask the brand for it, then check it on the certifier's public database.
Why yarn certificates are not enough
A mill can hold GOTS status while the finished rug is not GOTS-certified. Confirm the scope covers the product you are buying.
